0:00Welcome

Welcome to NxAi tutorials! In this episode, you'll create message templates, the messages you need to start a conversation on WhatsApp.

0:10What you'll do

We'll see when you need a template, build one step by step, meet the AI assistant, and use ready made templates.

0:19When you need a template

On WhatsApp, a business can message a customer first, or reply after the 24 hour window, only with a template Meta has approved. There are three kinds: Marketing for offers and news, Utility for order and account updates, and Authentication for login codes.

0:36Message templates page

Under Marketing, open Message templates. From here you create a new template, bring in templates made elsewhere with Sync from Meta, or start from ready made ones.

0:48Name, category & language

Click New template. Give it a name in lowercase, with underscores instead of spaces. Choose the category, Marketing here, and the language your message is written in. Then click Next.

1:06Message, variables & examples

Write your message. The Variable button adds a detail that changes per customer, like their name or the discount. Give each one an example, because Meta's reviewer reads the message with these filled in. The preview updates as you type.

1:23Buttons & opt-out

Buttons are optional, but they get more replies. You can add quick replies, links, call buttons, copy code and more. On marketing messages, a Stop promotions quick reply lets customers opt out in one tap. Click Next to review.

1:41Save draft & submit for approval

Click Save draft. Your template appears in the list as a draft. When it's ready, click Submit for approval, and Meta reviews it, usually within 24 hours.

1:53Draft a template with AI

Short on words? Click Draft template with AI. Pick an example, like Coupon code, and replace anything in brackets with your own details. Click Draft template, and the assistant fills in the whole builder for you to review.

2:10Ready-made templates

Ready made templates are wording Meta has already reviewed, mostly utility and login messages. Add one unchanged, and Meta approves it almost at once. Edit the words, and it goes through the usual review.

2:26After you submit

After you submit, the status shows In review. Once it's approved, use it in campaigns, chats and automations. If it's rejected, hover the status to see why, fix it, and submit again.
