What are WhatsApp auto follow-ups?

A short series of WhatsApp messages sent automatically after someone joins — a welcome, a check-in, a reminder. You build the series once in NxAi; every person who joins receives it on their own schedule. Some tools call this a drip campaign or a sequence.

How is the timing worked out?

Each step waits a set time after the previous one; the first step counts from the moment the person joins. So someone who joins on Thursday starts on Thursday — they never get a message meant for someone who joined on Monday.

What stops a series?

A reply. If the person writes back at any point, the remaining steps stop for them and the conversation is with your team or your AI agent. You can also pause a whole series; when you resume, pending messages shift forward by the length of the pause.

How do people get into a series?

Three ways: switch on auto-enrol for a contact group, and opted-in members join (each person only once); enrol people by hand; or enrol them from your own systems through the API or an AI agent connected over MCP.

Do follow-ups need approved templates?

Yes. Follow-ups usually go out after the 24-hour customer-service window has closed, so WhatsApp requires an approved message template for each step. NxAi fills template variables from contact fields, and media headers use a public link so they never expire mid-series.

Can I see who received what?

Every send is logged per person — which step went out, when, and whether it was delivered — so you can see exactly where each contact is in the series.

How is a follow-up different from a broadcast campaign?

A campaign sends one message to a whole group at the same moment. A follow-up series sends several messages to each person, timed from when that person joined, and stops when they reply.
