Provider Comparison

Best WhatsApp Business API providers in India

Eight providers serving the Indian market, what each one is genuinely best at, and where each falls short — including us. Last reviewed 30 August 2026.

Disclosure: NxAi is one of the providers on this page, and we built this page. We have listed ourselves fourth, not first, and stated the cases where a competitor is the better choice. Every provider here connects to the same Official WhatsApp Business API from Meta — the differences are software, billing and support, not the underlying channel. Pricing figures are entry prices each vendor published as of 30 August 2026 and change frequently; verify directly before deciding.

The providers in detail

Ordered by breadth of fit for a mid-sized Indian business — not by preference, and not by what anyone paid. Each entry states a real limitation, including ours.

01

AiSensy

Best for
Marketing-led teams running high-volume broadcasts and click-to-WhatsApp ad campaigns
Entry pricing
From around ₹1,500/month, with a Pro tier above it
Where it's strong
The largest install base among Indian providers, with a mature campaign and retargeting toolset. If broadcast volume is the main job, this is the default answer and deservedly so.
Where it falls short
Breadth comes at the cost of depth in the inbox and support experience. Per-contact tiers need modelling against your real list size.
02

WATI

Best for
Small teams that want a shared inbox and a no-code chatbot builder working on day one
Entry pricing
Per-seat pricing, entry tier billed on active contacts
Where it's strong
The most polished shared-inbox experience in the category, and the easiest onboarding for a non-technical team. Widely used well beyond India.
Where it falls short
Per-seat billing rises every time you add an agent, which is the most commonly cited reason teams eventually migrate.
03

Interakt

Best for
Indian D2C and ecommerce brands wanting catalogue, payments and CRM in one place
Entry pricing
From around ₹2,142/month, billed on active-contact tiers
Where it's strong
Deep commerce features and native Shopify support. Backed by Jio Haptik, so the platform is not going anywhere.
Where it falls short
Contact-tier billing can jump sharply between tiers. Less useful outside a retail or D2C context.
04

NxAi

MCPThat's us
Best for
Teams that want an AI agent — Claude, ChatGPT or any MCP client — to actually operate WhatsApp, on flat INR pricing
Entry pricing
₹1,999/month (Starter), ₹3,499/month (Growth). No setup fee, GST invoicing.
Where it's strong
The only provider in this list that exposes a Model Context Protocol server, so a connected AI agent can read conversations, find customers and send approved templates directly. A Meta-verified Tech Provider, with flat monthly pricing and no per-seat charge on Growth.
Where it falls short
A newer and smaller platform than the four around it, with a shorter public track record. Starter is single-agent and capped at 1,000 active contacts. If you need a large install base as a proof point, the incumbents above have it and we do not.
05

Gupshup

Best for
Enterprises with very high message volume and multi-channel requirements
Entry pricing
Quoted, not listed
Where it's strong
Genuine enterprise scale, multi-channel reach beyond WhatsApp, and direct carrier relationships. Handles volumes most of this list cannot.
Where it falls short
Sales-led onboarding and enterprise contracting. Overkill, and usually unavailable, for a small team getting started.
06

Twilio

Best for
Engineering teams building their own interface on raw API access
Entry pricing
Usage-based developer pricing, billed in USD
Where it's strong
The most reliable and best-documented API in the category, with global reach and no vendor lock-in on the application layer.
Where it falls short
No inbox, no campaign UI, no template manager — you build all of it. USD billing adds FX exposure for Indian businesses.
07

Picky Assist

Best for
Teams wanting deep multi-channel automation at a low price point
Entry pricing
Low entry pricing, modular add-ons
Where it's strong
Unusually deep automation and workflow logic for the price, spanning several channels.
Where it falls short
The interface is dense and the learning curve is real. Best suited to someone who enjoys configuring systems.
08

MSG91

Best for
Businesses already using the same vendor for SMS, email and OTP
Entry pricing
Usage-based, credit model
Where it's strong
One vendor and one invoice across every messaging channel, with solid Indian carrier coverage.
Where it falls short
The WhatsApp layer is thinner than dedicated platforms — fewer campaign and inbox features.

How WhatsApp API pricing actually works

Comparing headline subscription prices is the most common mistake teams make when choosing a provider, because the subscription is usually the smaller half of the bill. There are two separate charges:

1. Meta's conversation charges

Billed per 24-hour conversation window, at rates that vary by category — marketing, utility, authentication and service. These rates are published by Meta and are identical no matter which provider you choose. At volume, this dominates your bill.

2. The provider's platform fee

The monthly subscription for the software — inbox, campaigns, chatbot builder, integrations. This is the number every provider advertises, and it typically runs ₹1,500–₹5,000/month for small and mid-sized Indian businesses.

The question that actually decides your cost is whether the provider passes Meta's rates through at cost or adds a markup. A provider with a cheaper subscription and a per-message margin can cost substantially more at volume than one with a higher subscription and pass-through rates. MCP

The one capability that separates this list

Every provider above connects to the same Official WhatsApp Business API. On features like broadcasts, chatbots and shared inboxes they have converged — the differences are real but incremental. One capability is not converged at all.

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to an external system and operate it. With an MCP server for WhatsApp, you can ask Claude or ChatGPT to find every customer who asked about pricing last week and send them a follow-up — and it happens, without anyone opening a dashboard.

Standalone WhatsApp MCP servers exist, but almost all of them bridge a personalaccount through WhatsApp Web. That is an unofficial client, and using it for business messaging risks the number being banned. Doing this on the Official Business API — with template rules and opt-in guardrails enforced — is what no other provider on this list currently offers.

Five questions worth asking any provider

  • 1.Do you mark up Meta's message rates? At volume this matters more than the subscription. Get it in writing.
  • 2.What does my bill look like at three times this volume? Entry pricing tells you almost nothing about cost at scale.
  • 3.Can a non-developer build what I need? If your first campaign needs engineering time, the platform is not doing its job.
  • 4.Can I export my contacts, history and templates? Ask before you sign, not when you want to leave.
  • 5.How fast is support during the trial? Response times rarely improve once you are a paying customer.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the best WhatsApp Business API provider in India?

There is no single best provider — it depends on the job. For high-volume marketing broadcasts, AiSensy has the largest install base and the most mature campaign tooling. For a small team that wants a shared inbox working immediately, WATI is the easiest start. For D2C and ecommerce with catalogue and payments, Interakt fits best. For enterprise volume, Gupshup. For developers building a custom interface, Twilio. For connecting an AI agent such as Claude or ChatGPT directly to WhatsApp, NxAi is currently the only provider in India exposing an MCP server. All of them connect to the same Official WhatsApp Business API from Meta; what differs is the software, the billing model and the support.

How much does the WhatsApp Business API cost in India?

There are two separate costs. Meta charges per conversation, at rates that vary by conversation category — marketing, utility, authentication or service — and these are the same regardless of which provider you use. On top of that, each provider charges a platform fee, typically between ₹1,500 and ₹5,000 per month for small and mid-sized Indian businesses, with enterprise tiers running higher. At any real volume, Meta’s per-conversation charges dominate the bill, so the more important question is whether your provider adds a markup on top of Meta’s published rates.

Is there a free WhatsApp Business API provider?

No. Meta charges per conversation on the Business API, and every Business Solution Provider charges a platform fee on top, so a genuinely free option does not exist at meaningful volume. Some providers offer a free trial period — NxAi currently offers three months free, for example — but that is a promotion, not a free tier. The only permanently free option is the standard WhatsApp Business app, which is limited to one device and one operator with no automation, no campaigns and no integrations.

Do all providers charge the same Meta message rates?

They should, but they do not always. Meta publishes its per-conversation rates openly and bills the provider at those rates. Some providers pass them through at cost and earn only on the subscription; others add a margin per message. At high volume that margin can exceed the entire subscription fee. Ask any provider directly whether they mark up Meta’s rates and by how much, and get the answer in writing before you commit.

Can I switch WhatsApp Business API providers later?

Yes. A WhatsApp Business API number can be migrated between Business Solution Providers — the number and your green tick verification stay with you, and only the connected platform changes. Plan for a short handover window during migration. Two things to check before committing to any provider: whether prepaid credits are refundable, as they usually are not, and whether you can export your contacts, chat history and message templates.

What is MCP and why does it matter for WhatsApp?

The Model Context Protocol is an open standard that lets an AI assistant connect to an external system and operate it directly. Applied to WhatsApp, it means an agent such as Claude or ChatGPT can read your conversation history, search your contacts, and send approved message templates on your behalf — without anyone opening the platform’s own dashboard. Most standalone WhatsApp MCP servers bridge a personal account through WhatsApp Web, which is an unofficial client and risks the number being banned. NxAi is currently the only Indian provider offering this over the Official WhatsApp Business API.

Want to try the one with the AI agent?

Use NxAi free for your first three months — no credit card needed to start. Plan pricing applies only after the three-month trial period ends, and you choose whether to continue.
